Okra

Okra is a dish you either love or hate. Personally, I m not a fan, but I believe that if there is a way for someone to like them, this is it, the traditional oily cook method!

Ingredients
500 gr. okra
a handfull of parsley
1 onion chopped
2 tb.sp. tomato sause
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp sweet red pepper
1 tsp salt
olive oil

How to Make
In a pot, add olive oil to cover the bottom well. Then, put in the onions and let them smoothen.

Continue with the okra. With a wooden spoon turn okra many times around.

Then, add the tomato sause and stir well.

Last, put in parsley and spices, cover with water and let it boil for about 30 minutes.

Notes: Don't stir after you add water, just let it boil. Every now and then though wiggle the pot so that the orka won't get stuck at the bottom.
The smell is amazing when its getting ready!

Find it in Greek here.

  8. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and saying Hi. Your blog looks great!! I love Greek food (all Mediterranean food, really). Although I'm not a big fan of okra either, if it's spiced right, it's not that bad. Your Kourabiedes post has me drooling. Ever since I had them in Greektown (Detroit) I knew I had to make them. They're still on my "to-try" list but hopefully for not much longer :o)

  20. We eat okra over where i am too but this method is totally new to me. It's really interesting to get to know new methods practised in other parts of the world, giving me an opportunity to add to those i am familiar with. In fact, I plan to cook it over this weekend, we have a dish where there is a combination of 4 greens (okra is one of them) stir-fried in chili paste.
